The first meeting of XIV International Fish Congress, which considered the new concept elaborated by Expo Solutions Group (ESG), the forum operator, took place in Vladivostok.

The International Fish Congress will take place in Vladivostok on October 3 through 4, 2019 on the territorial administration base. The date and place of holding one of Russian fisheries industry key forums were approved at the first steering committee meeting held in the Primorye capital chaired by Alexander Kostenko, Vice-Governor. The steering committee was joined by representatives of various Primorye Territory administrative machinery departments, Federal Agency Russia for Fisheries, heads of industry associations – VARPE, ARPP, ASK and Fishnews holding representatives.

In the course of meeting, the updated forum concept was also considered, as was suggested by Expo Solutions Group, an industry exhibition full service company appointed as the forum operator this year. The International Fish Congress is planned for integrating to the general chain of industry-wise congress and exhibition events.

"The Fish Congress will become a logical event in the general calendar of business events in the industry. At the start of the year, Russian fishers will present their opportunities at the national stand in Brussels at Seafood Expo Global; they will then accept foreign colleagues at their premises at the Global Fishery Forum & Seafood Expo Russia in St. Petersburg. The dialogue will further continue at the International Fish Congress in Far East – at the heart of Russia fishery branch, and China Fisheries & Seafood Expo in Quingdao will consolidate arrangements achieved and complete the annual cycle. It turns out as the way from Europe to Asia", Ivan Fetisov, Expo Solutions Group General Director noted.

The updated congress concept reflects the task set by the state on increasing volumes and financial return of Russian exports of fish and seafood and implicates strengthening the event international nature. The main tools are discussing and solving the most urgent problems of the international trade, issues of arranging harvestings, as are carried out under intergovernmental agreements, as well as geographic growth and increase in the number of event attendees. The focus will be, in particular, on involving experts from Europe and APEC countries (China, Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Taiwan and others).

"There is a variety of sore points requiring long-term examination, repeated discussions and federal management participation therein, as makes managerial decisions. Therefore, the dialogue continuation principle built into the congress new concept is extremely important for the branch planned development", Georgy Martynov, President of Primorye Association of Fishery Enterprises emphasised.

In organisers' opinion, the congress business programme must be generated according to the feedback principle - based on issues worrying the business community and for the purpose of increase in the capitalisation of companies and business efficiency. The International Fish Congress must become the main communication site on export issues in Far East and APEC countries.

Expo Solutions Group plans attaining the objective set owing to, inter alia, the increase in the event arrangement level, rebranding information resources, creating a modern and recognisable corporate look, using latest multimedia technologies.

Suggestions on updating XIV The International Fish Congress concept accepted by the steering committee will be thereafter considered by Oleg Kozhemyako, Primorye Territory Governor.
