Global Fishery Forum & Seafood Expo Russia started in St. Petersburg

The main industry events are launched in the Expoforum EC in the Northern Capital of Russia – III Global Fishery Forum & Seafood Expo Russia.

Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation Dmitry Patrushev made a welcoming speech at the opening ceremony. “Today, we are opening a very important event for the third time, and we are proud to note the interest in the forum and the exhibition not only among Russian but also among our foreign colleagues. I would especially like to note that 20 foreign delegations are present here, including ministers of leading fishing countries, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, as well as the leadership of international fishing organizations,” Dmitry Patrushev said.

Deputy Ministy of Agriculture of Russian Federation – Head of the Federal Agency for Fishery Agency Ilya Shestakov noted in his speech the import role of the fishing industry exhibition as a platform for the development of competitiveness and attractiveness of the Russian fishing industry. “The entry list and the number of guests shows that the authority of the forum and exhibition is growing not only in Russia but also in the world as a whole. The fishing industry exhibition is an important addition to the forum part, which gives us an opportunity to see how trends develop and innovations are introduced. We hope that the events will give impetus to new joint projects, further development of international relations, achievement of great industrial results in the national economies and at the interstate level,” Ilya Shestakov said.

On behalf of the Federation Council, the First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on agrarian and food policy and environmental management Sergey Mitin welcomed the participants of the forum and exhibition. He noted that the fishing sector is one of the most dynamically developing and socially significant for the Russian economy today.

The opening ceremony was also attended by the heads of relevant departments from Bulgaria, Korea, Abkhazia, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Guinea and Turkey.

At the exhibition, the guests of honor visited the stands of leading Russian and foreign fishing enterprises. The Norebo Holding presented a wide range of frozen products under the Borealis retail brand: Atlantic wild perch, pollock, squid, haddock, halibut, as well as a novelty – Northern shrimp in a tray and package.

Russian Fishery Company presented products of high-level processing – fish sticks, fillets and minced pollock, and the Antey focused on a new line of products from sardines-iwashi.

Karelian Fishery Fleet presented a new product – Atlantic herring fillet produced at the ship factory. The route of the exhibition also included: Arkhangelsk Trawl Fleet, Kalinin Fishing Collective Farm, Belomor, Laishevsky Fish Factory, Rybzavod Mamadyshsky, Westrybflot, Marfish, Baltfishtrade and Roskon.

In addition to fishing and processing, the high-ranking guests were also presented with the segment of production of fishing industrial equipment, namely domestic companies Fishering Service, Technologicheskoe Oborudovanie, as well as Norwegian manufacturers Optimar and KAPP.

Pella, Moretron and United Shipbuilding Company presented their achievements in the segment of the domestic shipbuilding industry. Technologies for rearing were presented by Biosphere-Fish and Russian Aquaculture. Banking services for the enterprises of the fishing industry were presented by the financial organization Russian Agricultural Bank.

Governor of the Arkhangelsk region Igor Orlov, Governor of the Kaliningrad region Anton Alikhanov, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan – Minister of agriculture and food Marat Akhmetov told about the achievements of the enterprises at the joint stands of the regions.
