MPEDA (The Marine Products Export Development Authority) is a new participant from India, who has joined the Global fishery forum & Seafood Expo Russia.

The Marine Products Export Development Authority is a statutory body established in 1972 under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry to promote marine products export from India. In addition to guiding and supporting the country’s fish and seafood suppliers, MPEDA's activities cover various areas of bilateral and international cooperation in the field of fishing and aquaculture.

According to the customs statistics, Russia ranked the fourth among India’s largest trading partners by the end of 2023, the trade turnover between the countries has increased 1.8 times and reached 65 billion USD. Russian fishermen are expected to increase exports of fish products to India up to 160 thousand tons annually, by suppling more pollock, cod and other white fish, as the experts state.

At the same time, the opportunities for bilateral cooperation are not limited to trade in fish and seafood. For instance, India has a rich stock of seed and has achieved significant success in exporting aquaculture products. The countries are also showing interest in joint development of shipbuilding and equipment production.

“The development of relations with India creates new growth points for various sectors of the economy, including the fisheries. We think it's important to provide our participants with effective tools, through which they can easily find new partners and buyers in India. I am confident that MPEDA’s participation will contribute to that and turn into an even more powerful incentive for traders, exporters, aquaculture and other industry players,” stated Ivan Fetisov, CEO of the Expo Solutions Group.
