The Development of Aquaculture in the Eurasian Space Will Be Discussed at Seafood Expo Russia
17/06/2022

For the first time, Seafood Expo Russia 2022 will host an event organized jointly with the Eurasian Economic Commission. Within the framework of the round table, experts and stakeholders will discuss the possibilities for sustainable development of aquaculture in the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union.

To date, the EAEU states have achieved some success not only in the cultivation of fish, but also in the production of fish seed, high-quality feed and additives. Within the series of meetings held by the exhibition team, the possibility of participation in the organized events of the fishery companies of the EAEU countries, which are ready to share their experience, has already been discussed.

For the majority of forum and exhibition participants from the EAEU countries, the Russian market is traditionally one of the priorities. And today, based on the competitive advantages and partnerships of the Eurasian "five" states, aquaculture can become a driver for the development of mutual trade and related areas.

Today, issues of rational use of natural resources are of particular importance in the integration processes in the space of the Eurasian Economic Union. Growing demand for food, changing consumer preferences and new international trade conditions make it necessary to take additional measures to ensure the sustainability of fisheries activities.

These issues will be the focus of the discussion on the topic "Sustainable Development of Aquaculture in the Countries of the Eurasian Economic Union", which will be held on September 21 this year at the site of the V Global Fishery Forum & Seafood Expo Russia 2022.

Among the main topics for discussion:

- the potential for the development of aquaculture in the EAEU;

- provision of the aquaculture sector with production resources;

- ESG agenda - a new trend in the development of the fishery complex;

- modern technological solutions for the development of aquaculture offered by the business and scientific community of the EAEU;

- experience in organizing competitive aquaculture productions;

- providing the fishery industry with qualified personnel;

- prospects for interstate cooperation and trade.

The round table will be moderated by Armen Harutyunyan, Director of the Agro-Industrial Policy Department of the Eurasian Economic Commission. The participants in the discussion will be manufacturers of fish products, representatives of relevant authorities, research institutions, industry unions of the EAEU states, and international organizations.
