Port Infrastructure Development To Be Discussed at Seafood Expo Russia
13/05/2022

Port infrastructure has a great importance for the domestic market of Russia and the fishing industry as a whole. The possibility of supplying the market with fish and seafood depends on the throughput of ports and the availability of developed road and rail access to them. Due to the change in the structure of logistics and the increase in loading and unloading activities in ports, their modernization is becoming increasingly necessary. These are just some of the reasons why the round table “Fishing Ports: State Property, Private Investment and New Logistics” is organized as part of Seafood Expo Russia 2022.

Due to various restrictions on the supply of fish and seafood from Russia to several importing countries and the development of internal logistics, the issue of modernizing port infrastructure to provide services to fishing fleet vessels is relevant. Among the necessary services are loading and unloading activities, storage, repair and fuel bunkering. They are necessary for the stable supply of the whole country with fish and seafood entering the consumer market through seaports. The integrated development of their territories is provided by the state strategy.

Its implementation should become one of the incentives for the development of Russia's port infrastructure. At the same time, public-private partnerships can give a new impetus to the ongoing work. The existing tasks and ways to solve them require a comprehensive discussion and investments that will accelerate the modernization and increase its efficiency. Such cooperation will allow to increase the capacity of existing supply chains and create new ones in a short period of time. Thus, the domestic market will receive high-quality and affordable fish and seafood, so the industry and its participants will receive additional opportunities for development.

The implementation of the strategy and public-private partnership by the modernization of seaports will be the focus of experts at the round table organized together with the information and analytical agency PortNews, which will be held on the second day of Seafood Expo Russia 2022, September 22. The development of the infrastructure of the fishery industry as a whole will be one of the main topics of the upcoming event.

Global Fishery Forum & Seafood Expo Russia 2022 will be held on September 21-23 in St. Petersburg. It will be the largest in its history, the exposition area will occupy 26,000 square meters in pavilions G and F of EXPOFORUM EC.
